Helicopter ride in Ushuaia

A nice, even if expensive, activity that one can indulge in in Ushuaia is to take a helicopter ride. There are several travel agents who can arrange this for you. A few firms run the helicopter rides, which start from the heliport near the old airport. Pick one that suits you! Before starting, the agency screens a safety video about the dos and don’ts, answers your questions if any, and you are in the air! Rides typically last half an hour. You fly over the city, across meadows, streams and lakes, and land in the Andes. After a few minutes, and a toast of champagne (Coca-Cola for the likes of me!), you return to the starting point. The company that I went with (Heliushuaia) even arranged a pickup from the hotel, and dropped me off after the activity.

Here, we see a helicopter in its parking space, ready for liftoff!

Rise and shine!

Ushuaia from the air! Can you spot any landmarks from my earlier post in this blog on the city?

Leaving the city behind, and approaching the mountainous area..

Crossing meadows, streams and lakes!

A lake close to the centre of the photograph. A part of the helicopter control panel is seen (if you are interested in that kind of a thing)!

Landed in the Andes!

A part of Ruta no. 3, heading to Buenos Aires. This part of the road is unpaved.

Sadly, all good things have to come to an end sometime. Returning to the city again, after a wonderful ride! It started to rain, midway through the flight. Water drops and streaks can be seen on the windshield.

Last but not the least, here is a video from the ride:

See you in the next post, Friends! Thank you for reading!
